ROLLER HOCKEY GAMEPLAY
The Game:
Roller Hockey is played by two teams, each consisting of five members, of which one is goalie and the other four are skaters, who make an effort to slash the ball with their respective sticks into to the opposition’s goal. In concern with the adults, the game is divided in two halves of 25-minute each. As the soon as the ball is dead, the game clock stops. A one-minute timeout is provided in every half to each team.
The Rink:
Treated cement in the form of a non-abrasive, flat, and slippery material is accepted for the surface, as the rink normally has a wooden surface that is polished. The rink may be built from the optional three standard sizes that are: (an average of 40x20, a maximum of 44x22, and a minimum of 34x17) or any optional values with a 10 % margin of error and a size ratio of 2:1. The rink is enveloped by a 1 m wall and has rounded corners also. Despite the absence of stands there is a 4 m high net.
Equipment:
- The goalkeepers and the skaters are provided with different sticks and are not allowed to weigh above 500 gm or wider than 5 cm.
- Clothing includes a shirt, socks up to the knee, and shorts.
- The ball weighs around 155 gm has a circumference of 23 cm and is created from vulcanized rubber.
- Gloves, jock strap, shin guards and knee caps are the protective equipments regularly used Roller hockey.
