HOCKEY JERSEY

Introduction:

Conventionally called the hockey sweater, hockey jersey is clothing worn by the players used in the covering of the body parts. The current hockey jerseys are made of tough synthetic materials such as polyester, which is used to wick the moisture away and help the players remain dry. Hockey Jersey is usually adorned using the logo of the team at the front and the last name of the player at the back. The initials are hinted in the case of teammates, who have the same family name in addition to any number from 1 to 99. In the National Hockey League, the highest allowed number is 98. This was to honor the Wayne Gretzky.

Miscellaneous:

The captain of the team gets a letter “C” to the right and the top of the team logo. The other two players, who are the alternate captain designates have an upper case “A”. The Jerseys which are used in the tournaments and European leagues are decorated with ads. This concept was adopted from the football jerseys. The replica sweaters of the favorite players are sold by the NHL teams, both at the stadiums as well at the sports memorabilia stores.

Dressings of the NHL:

From the start of the year 1971 till the year 2003, the team jerseys were worn during the home games and the coloured ones were for the road hockey games. In the year 2003, NHL reversed this procedure. This was mainly due to the implementation of the alternate third jerseys in the 90’s.
