CCM HOCKEY
Introduction:
The abbreviated name of CCM hockey is the Canada Cycle & Motor Co. Ltd. The firm subsequently got divided into two segregated entities, which helped in the maintenance of the trademark of CCM. The first entity got involved in the manufacturing of equipments related to hockey, and the other manufactured the CCM bicycles and cycles.
Establishment of CCM:
CCM was established in the year 1899. This happened subsequent to the fall of the bicycle market. It was found at a time, during the amalgamation of the operations of four of the major manufacturers of bicycles in Canada. These were the Massey Harris, the H.A. Lozier, the Welland Vale Manufacturing and the Goold. For many years passing by, CCM started the production of bicycles in the region of Weston in the city of Toronto, Canada. For a brief period, the CCM also got involved in the automobile manufacturing.
Miscellaneous:
Within six years of its establishment, CCM witnessed saturation in the market of bicycles. It was then, that the CCM started the production of hockey skates and other hockey equipments and gears. In the year 1937, the CCM took on the Tackaberry brand which was prepared by George Tackaberry from Manitoba. Since that time, the “Tacks” were included in the signature of the firm. The following years witnessed more acquisitions by the CCM such as the buying of the Karhu, the ten hockey makers. From then onwards, CCM came to be well-known as “The Hockey Company”. In the year 2004, the sports equipment manufacturer Reebok, an Adidas subsidiary, purchased the hockey company in addition to the brand name of CCM.
